With us, every moment counts – whether you come to work, celebrate, or just relax. We believe in the power of the personal touch, in the details, in experiences that linger; with a mild sea breeze that cools after a warm day, or a warm fire inside after a stormy day with foaming seas. In June 2025, we reopened after our extensive renovation and expansion, ready to create experiences, memories, and enjoyable dining experiences – all months of the year. But our beautiful building has stood proudly since the turn of the century.

It began with plans for a deep-sea port and a railway out to the small fishing community of Arkösund. But the future caught up – the steam engine took over, the port plans fell through, and instead, a summer idyll was born. Here, at the outermost edge of the archipelago, a recreational resort was created for the city’s manufacturers and socialites. Villas designed by Verner Northun sprung up, people bathed in the cold bathhouse, and socialized in the restaurant on Kvarnberget.

The hotel opened in 1895 with 13 rooms, tiled stoves, and kerosene lamps. Here, Miss Signe Borg served her special suppers to whiskey-drinking gentlemen and sherry-sipping ladies – something we know thanks to her preserved accounting. The guests were then, as now, called “bathing guests,” and for many decades Arkösund teemed with life. Even royalty has passed through – their names are inscribed on the stone behind the hotel.

Sedan 2016 är det vi på Östgöta Kök som med stolthet förvaltar hotellets arv. Vår filosofi har alltid varit enkel: laga fantastisk mat från grunden, med kärlek och med riktigt bra råvaror och så mycket som möjligt från den östgötska myllan.
Vi vill skapa en levande plats där historia möter framtid – där möten blir minnen och varje stund räknas.

I vårt vackra sekelskifteshus beläget precis vid vattnet i hjärtat av den östgötska skärgården där vi med  klassisk skärgårds romantik och modern komfort erbjuder möjligheter till lyckade möten med kollegor, vänner eller din käresta. Berikade av våra fina samarbetspartners erbjuder vi turer ut i skärgården, matlagningsaktiviteter, vinprovningar, föreläsningar, tränings – och wellnessupplevelser, musik – och konst. Dessutom  skapar vi  njutbara middagar med kock-kollegor eller råvaror som gästar vårt kök .
